During holidays and days of lighthearted celebration, nature joins in on the special occasions. The small moments of beauty are everywhere, waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Like the dancing moonlight that attracts a fluttering moth, and lights the way for its nighttime travels in “Moth’s Moonlit Wanders” by Marie Helen. So to mark this Halloween, let’s take a moment, and spend some time in the harmoniously serene Autumn evening that set the natural scene for the moth’s playful journey. Hope you enjoy the poem everyone, and have a very safe and happy Halloween!
Moth’s Moonlit Wanders
Sparkling silver ray through a hollow leaf; Grants the light longing Autumn moth relief. Elusive flaps seen, tender magic flight; Dancing to shifts of shadowy moonlight. Whispering sounds of a flickering wing, To the whistles of the wind, tree limbs sing. Pumpkins aglow with festive candle light, Heart set aflutter, bewildered delight. Twirling glides, with gleeful swirls, the moth leaps; Throughout and about, the lantern it sweeps. Then restful flaps atop strewn leaves briefly, ‘till corn blue glimmers of beams flash swiftly. Upon misty porch lit sheaves dampened lint, A quiver, a flick, weightless small wings lift. ‘neath cobwebs escapes a small ghostly sight, Glinting speck flakes astray into the night. -Marie Helen Abramyan
